Can Diabetics Eat Rice?
Happy New Year to you from ADDYS Antidiabetes School.
*Welcome Back!!*
Today, I will be talking about one of the many questions I get on a regular.
*Can diabetics eat white rice?*
As you may know, the glycemic index of rice is about 82, which is relatively high.
The results of multiple studies have shown that white rice can increase the risk of diabetes.
A recent survey of 300,000 people in the United States, China, and Japan showed that there is indeed a relationship between white rice and diabetes.
According to related studies, people who eat more white rice have a 55% higher risk of diabetes than those who eat less white rice.
The main component of white rice is carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates are easily converted into sugars after entering the body, leading to increased blood sugar.
People with diabetes must control the amount of rice consumed at each meal.
I personally recommend that you eat 120-150g of cooked rice, paired with lots of vegetables and protein if you should eat rice.
Also most importantly, do not eat rice for dinner. You can eat as breakfast or lunch.
